This is because of the slow reaction in opposing directions. You can see this by applying pressure with your hand and see the slow reaction of the foam coming back to its original posture. This foam becomes more malleable with warmth. Some Viscoeleastic's will become very, very soft with applied heat and become very stiff with applied cold. Land and Sky and Strada use a special ViscoElastic that does not have the extremes that come along with most Viscoelastic. Why is seam construction important?Land and Sky uses a lap seam construction. That is the vinyl that is lapped over the other piece of vinyl and welded together with Radio Frequencies, or RFs. Most of the modern waterbeds have lap seams. Most of the problems occur when lap seams are not welded evenly. That is to say that the width of the seam varies. This variance causes more seam leaks than any other part of a mattress. You will always see a consistent width on Land and Sky waterbed mattress seams.
